Studio Swine (Super Wide Interdisciplinary New Explorers) is a collaboration between Japanese Architect Azusa Murakami and British Artist Alexander Groves.
Creating works that straddle the spheres of art, design and cinema, Studio Swine explores themes of regional identity and the future of resources. Their work combines deep contextual research and experimental use of sustainable materials which manifest in objects, films and immersive installations.
Their unique sensory installations are an ongoing series of works they call “Ephemeral Tech” where the boundaries between digital technology and natural forces are dissolved to create unnatural phenomena using real materials that engage all your senses beyond the standard visual stimuli of flat screens, projections and LED arrays. Ephemeral Tech looks to a future where technology transcends the familiar interfaces and becomes inseparable from both our built and our natural environments.
Studio Swine’s films have been awarded at Cannes and other film festivals around the world and their work have been widely exhibited at institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, Pompidou Centre in Paris, and the Venice Art Biennale.
Studio Swine is represented by Pace Gallery, Pearl Lam Gallery and Superblue.
