Yong’s design philosophy merges traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics, producing timeless works that resonate with global audiences. His process strips away unnecessary details to capture the essence of objects, challenging the existential role of design and infusing his creations with a lightness of restraint.
Yong’s recent projects include a solo exhibition, “Being and Nothingness,” where he explored themes of identity, society, and human experience through industrial materials like stainless steel. This exhibition reflects on Singaporean societal values, especially around efficiency and personal identity. He is also the founder of Folks Furniture, a global contemporary wooden furniture brand, and co-founder of Grafunkt, a contemporary furniture retailer in Singapore.
His work continues to be exhibited in prestigious venues such as the National Gallery Singapore, cementing his influence in the global design landscape.
